If you look for a destination for a short break from everyday life we’ll recommend you to fly to the Dominican Republic! At the end of September, we spent one week in the Caribbean paradise and enjoyed our stay for every second. Although there is a long distance to the Dominican Republic, you should know that the recovery you get is definitely worth it.
Where we stayed
During our holidays, we stayed in the Hotel Be Live in Puerto Plata. This hotel is located on the Costa Dorada beachfront -125 kilometers of fine sand. The beach is one of the most paradisial spots in the Caribbean. The crystal clear water and the delightful shade cast by coconut palm trees, helped us to create the ideal set for our perfect sun-and-sand holidays. Another little highlight is the tropical big mountain Pico Isabel de Torres in the background of the hotel which you can ride up with the only aerial tramway in the Caribbean.
While I travelled with my best friend, the hotel is also perfect for both couples and families. They have attractions for everybody and no matter how long you plan to stay, you won’t be bored for a minute. They offer activities like horseback riding, diving, sailing, tennis and entertainment at the beach etc.
The rooms were super-clean, spacious and comfortable. On our balcony we enjoyed our evenings with good wine from the bar and nice talks. The only flaw was the air conditioner which dropped from the ceiling and the slippery floor.
One important point: You get great food all day long. The theme restaurants (Mexican, Brazilian, Dominican) were high-quality and even at the normal buffet restaurant, the dishes were always freshly prepared.
All we can say is “Thank You!” to the staff – especially to Luis alias Chihuahua – they were friendly and courteous in every situation throughout our stay. The animations at the pool were both funny and entertaining but not intrusive. The hotel was filled with nations from all over the world.
During the week it was nice, quiet and perfect for relaxing. whereas on Fridays a whole regiment of native tourists came to the hotel and turned it into a party hotel. It was very weird but for young people it is a good opportunity to make contacts and to have some nice conversations.
Dolphin Swim and Sea Lion Kiss
In order to make your trip even better, there is a plenty of excursions offered to discover the country. Among other attractions, you can take a trip to the dream island Isla Saona or Punta Rusia Paradise Island, go to the Damajagua waterfalls, a jungle hiking adventure or a snorkeling tour.
Our biggest dream ever, was to swim with dolphins. So, we took a trip to the Ocean World in Puerto Plata. It is a must see attraction on vacation in the Dominican Republic! They offer a variety of attractions such as water slides, sea lions, sharks and the main attraction – swimming with dolphins!
We spent one hour in a water basin, located at the sea, with the lovely and sweetest animals in the world – it was one of the most beautiful experiences in our lives that we will never forget! In addition, we had a sea lion encounter where we fed, kissed and hugged those wonderful animals.
P.S.: Don’t forget to drink Mamajuana!
